G3A3

The G3A3 is a variant of the Heckler & Koch G3 battle rifle, produced for export markets and security forces. It is chambered for 7.62x51mm NATO and uses the same roller-delayed blowback operating system as the G3 family, a design derived from the CETME rifle. The G3A3 retains the familiar G3 layout: a long receiver, a left-side charging handle, a pistol grip, and a detachable box magazine.

Design and features commonly associated with the G3A3 include a selectable fire control, iron sights with a rear adjustable sight, and a fixed stock in many early export examples. Magazine capacity is typically 20 rounds. The rifle is known for its durability and a long service life in various climates and terrains. Variations in stock material and minor fittings occurred across different export contracts, with some configurations using wooden stocks and others employing synthetic components.

Variants and development: The G3A3 is part of a broader family of G3 rifles, which also include earlier and later variants such as the G3A1 and G3A4. The A3 designation generally identified export-oriented updates to the base design, tailored to the requirements of international customers rather than the original German military model. Production of G3-based rifles continued through several decades and under license in multiple countries.
