Förslitning, commonly known as wear or fatigue in English, refers to the gradual degradation of materials or components due to repeated loading, stress, or mechanical action. This phenomenon is particularly relevant in engineering, mechanical systems, and materials science, where components such as gears, bearings, or metal parts are subjected to cyclic forces over time.

The process of förslitning occurs through various mechanisms, including abrasive wear, adhesive wear, fatigue wear, and corrosion-related wear.
