Földkábelek

Földkábelek, or underground cables, are electrical cables designed to be buried directly in the ground or laid in underground conduits. This method of cable installation offers several advantages over overhead lines, including improved aesthetics, increased safety by eliminating the risk of falling objects or wind damage, and greater reliability in harsh weather conditions.

The construction of földkábelek typically involves a robust outer sheath made of materials like polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or polyethylene (PE) to protect the inner conductors from moisture, soil chemicals, and mechanical damage. The conductors themselves are usually made of copper or aluminum. Depending on the application, these cables can carry low voltage for power distribution, high voltage for transmission, or can be telecommunication cables for data transfer.

Installation requires careful planning and execution. Trenches are dug to a specified depth, and the cables are laid, often on a bed of sand to prevent damage from stones. In some cases, protective conduits made of plastic or concrete are used to further shield the cables. Backfilling the trench involves compacting the soil to ensure stability. The use of földkábelek is widespread in urban areas, residential developments, and industrial sites where overhead lines are undesirable or impractical. They are also employed for undersea and inter-city connections. Maintenance involves periodic inspections and targeted repairs if faults are detected.
