Flowwrapmaskiner, also known as horizontal form-fill-seal (HFFS) machines, are automated packaging systems used to create sealed bags from a single roll of flexible film. These machines are highly versatile and widely employed across various industries, including food, pharmaceuticals, and consumer goods, for packaging a vast array of products. The process typically begins with the film being unwound from a roll and then shaped into a tube. Simultaneously, the product is precisely dosed into the forming tube. The machine then seals the longitudinal seam of the tube, followed by the creation of transverse seals at both the front and back of the package, effectively forming, filling, and sealing the individual units.

The design of flow wrap machines allows for high-speed operation and efficient packaging. They can handle a variety of film materials, such as polyethylene, polypropylene, and laminates, accommodating different product shapes and sizes, from solid items like confectionery and baked goods to multipacks and small components. Key components often include a forming collar to shape the film, a sealing jaw for creating heat seals, and a feeding system for product insertion. Modern flow wrap machines often incorporate advanced features like integrated printers for applying best-before dates or batch codes, automated reject systems for faulty packages, and servo-driven motors for precise control over film movement and sealing parameters.
