Fixadors

Fixadors is the plural of fixador, a term used in Portuguese to denote a device or substance that fixes, immobilizes, or preserves. The word appears in several domains, including medicine, biology, chemistry, photography, and manufacturing. In each context, fixadores serve to secure alignment, stabilize structures, or preserve samples.

In medicine and orthopedics, external fixators are external frames connected to bone pins to hold fragments in the correct position after fractures or during deformity correction. Internal fixation devices such as plates and screws also function as fixators by immobilizing bone internally. External systems commonly include circular or unilateral frames and allow gradual adjustment during treatment. Potential complications can include pin-site infections and hardware irritation.
