Filtplattor

Filtplattor, also known as a filter press or plate-and-frame filter, is a widely used industrial filtration device designed to separate solids from liquids. It operates by pressing a slurry (a mixture of solids and liquids) between a set of porous plates, allowing the liquid to pass through while retaining the solids. This method is particularly effective for handling high-solid-content suspensions and is commonly employed in various industries, including wastewater treatment, chemical processing, food and beverage production, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

The core component of a filtplattor consists of a series of filter plates, typically made of stainless steel or other corrosion-resistant materials, arranged in pairs. Each plate is fitted with a filter cloth or medium that captures the solids. When the slurry is introduced into the chamber formed between the plates, pressure is applied to force the liquid through the filter cloth, leaving the solids trapped. Once the filtration cycle is complete, the plates are opened, and the collected solids are discharged, often with the aid of compressed air or mechanical scrapers.

Filtplattor systems can be operated manually, semi-automatically, or fully automatically, depending on the application and scale. They are available in various configurations, including horizontal and vertical designs, and can be customized with different plate sizes, materials, and filtration capacities to suit specific needs. The device’s efficiency is influenced by factors such as plate spacing, pressure applied, and the choice of filter medium.

Due to its versatility and effectiveness, the filtplattor is a preferred choice for industries requiring high-volume filtration with minimal liquid loss. However, maintenance—such as cleaning filter cloths and inspecting plates for wear—is essential to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the equipment.
