Fensterzarge

Fensterzarge is the fixed frame that surrounds a window opening and carries the window sash. It forms the connection to the wall, guides the opening and closing of the window and provides a base for hardware and seals. The zarge is designed to transfer loads between the wall and the window and to support insulation and weather sealing.

Aufbau und Funktionen: A Fensterzarge typically comprises a top piece (Kopf), two side sections (Seitenteile) and a bottom piece (Sohle or Schwelle). In the frame sit glazing beads or the sash, and integrated sealings and gasket systems ensure ventilation control and airtightness. The zarge also serves as the mounting point for hinges, locks and hinges hardware, and it creates a stable interface for installation in the wall.

Materialien und Varianten: Fensterzargen are made from wood, PVC (Kunststoff), aluminum, or composite materials. Holzzargen are common in renovation or historic buildings, while PVC- and aluminum-zarges offer low maintenance and good durability in new construction. Zargen can be produced as recessed (Einbauzarge) or surface-mounted versions (Aufsetz- oder Aufbaudose/Blende), depending on wall construction and installation method.

Montage und Einsatzgebiete: In Neubauten werden Fensterzargen meist in den Wandöffnungen eingebaut, oft als Einbauzarge, die in Mauerwerk oder Betonkern verankert wird. Bei Renovierungen oder Sanierungen kommen Aufsetz- oder Aufbauszargen zum Einsatz. Die Wahl des Zargenmaterials beeinflusst Wärmedämmung, Schallschutz und Witterungsbeständigkeit.

Pflege und Wartung: Regelmäßige Überprüfung der Dichtungen, ggf. Austausch abgenutzter Gummis und Kontrolle auf Feuchtigkeit oder Schädlingsbefall bei Holzzargen sind wichtig. Eine gut montierte Fensterzarge trägt maßgeblich zur Energieeffizienz, Luftdichtheit und Langlebigkeit der Fensteranlage bei.
