Fangers

Fangers is a fictional term used to describe predatory humanoid beings that appear in various fantasy and science fiction works. Because the term is used across different worlds, there is no single canonical description; depictions vary in appearance, abilities, and behavior. In general, the name is chosen to evoke danger through elongated canine teeth and predatory features.

The word fanger derives from the English word fang, combined with the common agent noun suffix -er. In some settings the name carries additional mythic or symbolic connotations, but the link to fangs remains central.

In many portrayals Fangers are bipedal predators with sharp canine teeth, heightened senses, and agile builds. Some variants are described as nocturnal ambush predators with cloaking or silent movement; others wield venomous saliva, poisonous bites, or paralyzing toxins. Capabilities and weaknesses are defined differently by authors, but common traits include stealth, speed, and a predilection for hunting sentient beings or livestock.

Reproduction and lifecycles differ widely; some cultures depict Fangers as immortal or long-lived, others as short-lived but prolific.
