FM8

FM8 is a software synthesizer developed by Native Instruments that implements eight-operator frequency modulation (FM) synthesis. It extends classic DX-style FM with a modern, feature-rich instrument capable of producing a wide range of timbres, from bright metallic tones to evolving pads. The plug-in runs on Windows and macOS in VST, AU, and AAX formats and can be used as a stand-alone application or hosted in a DAW. It is part of Native Instruments' Komplete line.

Engine and architecture: The core is an eight-operator FM engine with multiple algorithms for operator routing. Each operator can have its own envelope and frequency ratio, and operators can be configured with feedback to create complex spectra.
