ErYAGlaser
Er:YAG laser stands for erbium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet laser, a solid-state laser that uses an Er3+:YAG crystal as its gain medium. It emits coherent light at a wavelength of approximately 2.94 micrometers, which is strongly absorbed by water. The laser is typically pumped by diode or flashlamp sources to excite the erbium ions, and the ensuing transition produces the characteristic emission.
The high water absorption at 2.94 μm causes energy to be deposited in a very shallow layer
Common applications include dentistry (cavity preparation, caries removal, enamel and dentin reshaping, and precise marginal finishing),
Advantages of Er:YAG lasers include precision, shallow penetration, and relatively minimal thermal damage to surrounding tissue.
