Endotraheaalse refers to a procedure or substance related to the trachea, which is the windpipe that connects the larynx to the bronchi of the lungs. This term is often used in a medical context, particularly in anesthesiology and critical care.

Endotraheaalse intubatsiooni, commonly known as endotracheal intubation, is a medical procedure in which a tube is inserted into the trachea. This tube, called an endotracheal tube (ETT), is used to maintain an open airway or to deliver oxygen or anesthetic agents to the lungs. It is a critical intervention for patients who are unable to breathe adequately on their own, are undergoing general anesthesia, or require mechanical ventilation.

The endotracheal tube is typically inserted through the mouth or nose and guided into the trachea. Its placement is confirmed using various methods, including visual inspection, auscultation (listening to breath sounds), and capnography. Once in place, the tube can be connected to a breathing circuit, a ventilator, or a bag-valve-mask device to assist or control respiration.
