Emergingdisciplines is an umbrella term for fields of study that are in the early stages of formation, typically characterized by rapid evolution, cross-pollination among established disciplines, and the emergence of new methods, standards, and institutions. They arise when technological advances, data availability, or societal challenges create problems that existing disciplines do not fully address. Because they are still coalescing, there is often ongoing debate about boundaries, nomenclature, and professional norms.
