ESDsensitive
ESDsensitive, short for Electrostatic Discharge sensitive, refers to electronic components, assemblies, or equipment that can be damaged by a discharge of static electricity. Discharges can occur when a charged person or object comes into contact with or near a sensitive device, causing instantaneous electrical overstress or latent damage affecting performance or reliability. Common ESDS items include integrated circuits, memory devices, diodes, connectors, and sensors.
Damage can be catastrophic, causing immediate failure, or latent, reducing reliability over time. The risk depends
Protection and handling: ESDS items should be kept in grounded environments and transported in anti-static packaging.
Labeling and standards: ESDS items are typically labeled with the ESDS symbol or the designation ESDS. Industry
