EANM

The European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) is a non-profit professional association dedicated to the advancement of nuclear medicine in Europe and beyond. It brings together physicians, medical physicists, radiopharmacists, chemists, technologists, and researchers working in nuclear medicine. The organization aims to promote high-quality patient care, foster education and research, and advance the science and clinical practice of molecular imaging and radiopharmacology.

Core activities include organizing the annual EANM Congress, a major European meeting featuring scientific sessions, hands-on courses, and industry symposia; developing, disseminating, and updating clinical guidelines and position papers; providing education and training through courses, fellowships, online modules, and continuing professional development programs; and supporting research through grants, awards, and collaborative initiatives. EANM collaborates with national societies, international organizations, industry partners, and patient groups to advance the field.

Publications and guidelines: The association publishes the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (EJNMMI) and related educational materials. It endorses and contributes to practice guidelines governing radiopharmaceutical use, imaging procedures, dosimetry, and radiation safety.

Governance and structure: EANM is governed by a president and an elected board, supported by scientific and educational committees. A permanent Secretariat coordinates activities, manages membership, events, and publications, and facilitates international collaboration.

Impact and scope: EANM serves as a leading voice for standardization and quality in European nuclear medicine, supporting professional standards, patient safety, and the adoption of advanced imaging modalities such as PET/CT, PET/MR, and related radiopharmacy practices.
