DiEM25

DiEM25 is a pan-European, transnational political movement founded in Rome in February 2016. Its name is an acronym for the "Democratic Movement – 25th of May," referencing the proposed date for the movement's declaration. The movement advocates for a radical democratic reformation of the European Union, proposing that the EU should be democratized and revitalized to better serve the interests of its citizens.

The core ideology of DiEM25 centers on a belief that the current European Union is fundamentally undemocratic and serves primarily the interests of financial elites rather than its people. They argue for greater transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in EU decision-making processes. Key policy proposals include the establishment of a European Constitutional Assembly, which would draft a new, democratic constitution for Europe, and a Green New Deal for Europe to address climate change and economic inequality.
