Dermatologiska is the adjectival form used in Swedish to describe matters related to dermatology. Dermatology is the medical specialty that studies the skin, hair, nails, and mucous membranes, and applies medical, surgical, and cosmetic approaches to diagnose and treat their disorders. The term derives from the Greek derma (skin) and logia (study).

The clinical focus includes inflammatory skin diseases such as eczema and psoriasis, infectious conditions caused by bacteria, fungi, or viruses, benign and malignant tumors, pigmentary disorders, and autoimmune or genetic skin diseases. Dermatologists also address cosmetic concerns, including aging, scarring, and hair loss, using topical therapies, systemic medications, lasers, and procedures such as chemical peels or light-based therapies.

Diagnostic methods typically involve thorough skin examination, dermoscopy, skin biopsy, and, when appropriate, patch testing for contact dermatitis or microbial studies. Treatment often combines topical agents (steroids, retinoids, anti-inflammatory drugs), systemic therapies (immunomodulators, antibiotics, antifungals), and procedural interventions.

Education and training vary by country but generally require medical school and a dermatology residency or equivalent, with potential subspecialization in areas such as pediatric dermatology, dermatopathology, Mohs surgery, or phototherapy.

Research areas include immunology and genetics related to skin disease, skin cancer biology, and advances in precision medicine and biologic therapies. Public health aspects emphasize sun protection, early detection of skin cancer, and responsible skincare.
