Deklaratívny is a term used in computer programming and logic to describe a style of programming or reasoning where the programmer or reasoner specifies what the desired outcome is, rather than how to achieve it. This contrasts with imperative programming, which focuses on the step-by-step instructions to reach the outcome. In a declarative approach, the system or language figures out the "how" on its own, based on the declared goal.

This paradigm emphasizes the logic and structure of the problem rather than the control flow. Examples include declarative languages like SQL for database querying, HTML for structuring web content, and CSS for styling. In these cases, you declare what you want (e.g., "select all users from the 'customers' table where their age is greater than 18" in SQL), and the underlying system translates this declaration into the necessary procedural steps for execution.

Declarative programming can lead to more concise and readable code, as it abstracts away complex implementation details. It often facilitates easier reasoning about the program's correctness because the focus is on the intended result. However, it may sometimes offer less direct control over performance optimization compared to imperative approaches. The core idea is to describe the properties of the solution rather than the steps to obtain it.
