Defibrillattor

Defibrillattor is a commonly misspelled variant of defibrillator, a device used to treat certain life-threatening heart rhythms by delivering an electric shock to restore a normal heartbeat. Defibrillation is most effective for ventricular fibrillation and pulseless ventricular tachycardia, conditions in which the heart’s electrical activity is disorganized. The term defibrillation refers to the process of stopping these chaotic rhythms, after which the heart’s natural pacemaker can reestablish a stable rhythm.

There are several types of defibrillators. Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are portable devices intended for laypersons and first responders; they analyze heart rhythm and advise or deliver a shock if needed. Manual external defibrillators are used by trained professionals in hospitals or rescue services and allow the operator to choose the shock level. Implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) are surgically placed under the skin and heart muscle to monitor heart rhythms continuously and deliver shocks automatically when dangerous arrhythmias are detected. There are also wearable defibrillators for temporary protection in patients at high risk, and subcutaneous ICDs that avoid intravascular leads.

Operation and safety considerations are similar across devices. After activating an AED or ICD, responders follow prompts, perform CPR if advised, and ensure the shocks are delivered only when the heart rhythm is life-threatening. Pads or leads must be correctly placed, and devices require regular maintenance, battery checks, and professional evaluation. In medical literature, the term defibrillator is standard, while defibrillattor represents a misspelling rather than an accepted alternative name.
