Deckhands
Deckhands are crew members assigned to the deck department on ships and other marine vessels. They perform a broad range of tasks that support vessel operations, maintenance, and safety. Responsibilities typically include cleaning and painting the deck, rigging and handling lines, mooring and anchor procedures, and assisting with cargo operations, small repairs, and watch duties as required. On larger ships they work under the supervision of the boatswain and deck officers, while on smaller craft they may perform a wider set of tasks.
Training and qualifications for deckhands vary by country but commonly require formal maritime training and certification.
