Dassurance

Dassurance is not a widely standardized term in formal knowledge bases, but it appears in some professional and academic discussions as a neologism related to assurance in data and digital contexts. Because there is no universal definition, meanings vary by use case and author.

One common interpretation is data assurance, which refers to systematic processes that aim to ensure data quality, integrity, security, privacy, provenance, and governance across an organization’s information assets. In this sense, dassurance overlaps with data governance, data quality management, data lineage, and data security practices, all aimed at enabling trustworthy data for decision making and compliance.

A related interpretation sees dassurance as digital or IT assurance, encompassing control design, testing, auditing, and compliance assessment applied to software, cloud services, and IT operations. The goal in this view is to provide stakeholders with confidence that digital systems meet requirements, mitigate risks, and comply with regulations.

Because the term lacks a single, authoritative definition, practitioners should clarify scope and criteria when adopting it in policy, standards, or contracts.
