DHLs

DHLs are a group of global logistics brands operated by Deutsche Post DHL Group, commonly referred to as DHL. The DHL umbrella encompasses multiple business lines, including DHL Express for time-definite international and domestic courier services, DHL Parcel for parcel delivery, DHL eCommerce Solutions for cross-border e-commerce logistics, DHL Global Forwarding for air and ocean freight, DHL Freight for road and rail freight, and DHL Supply Chain for contract logistics and warehousing. Together, these units form DHL’s international network of transportation, warehousing, and value-added services.

DHLs trace their roots to 1969, when two American entrepreneurs founded DHL to speed shipments between the United States and the Hawaiian Islands. The company expanded rapidly in the following decades and, in 2002, was acquired by Deutsche Post AG, later integrated into its Express and Logistics divisions under the DHL brand. The business has since diversified beyond express courier into freight forwarding, e-commerce logistics, and supply chain services.

Operations center on a global network that spans more than 220 countries and territories, with a system of hubs, aircraft, trucks, and warehouses designed to support time-sensitive deliveries and end-to-end supply chain management. The DHLs emphasize digital tools, including shipment tracking and customer portals, to provide visibility and efficiency.

Sustainability and governance: DHLs have committed to reducing carbon emissions and aim for net-zero logistics by mid-century, investing in electric vehicles, alternative fuels, and energy efficiency, alongside programs to improve working conditions and compliance across its global operations.
