Cserzésére is a Hungarian term that translates to "tanning" or "currying" when referring to animal hides. This process is essential for transforming raw hides into usable leather, preventing decay and improving their durability, flexibility, and aesthetic qualities. The term can encompass various methods, both traditional and modern, used to treat animal skins.

Historically, cserzésére involved methods such as using vegetable tannins derived from tree barks, leaves, and fruits.
