Christianities refers to the diverse array of religious traditions and practices that trace their origins to the teachings and life of Jesus of Nazareth. While united by core beliefs such as the divinity of Jesus, his crucifixion and resurrection, and the concept of salvation, these traditions have developed distinct theological interpretations, liturgical practices, and organizational structures over two millennia. The major branches include Catholicism, Protestantism, and Eastern Orthodoxy, each with numerous denominations and independent movements within them.
Catholicism, led by the Pope in Rome, emphasizes the authority of the Church hierarchy and sacraments. Protestantism
