CJ4

CJ4 commonly refers to the Cessna Citation CJ4, a light business jet produced by Cessna Aircraft Company, part of Textron Aviation. It is the fourth generation of the Citation Jet family, following the CJ1, CJ2, and CJ3. The CJ4 was announced in the mid-2000s and entered service in the early 2010s. It was designed to offer higher speed, longer range, and enhanced cabin comfort compared with its predecessors, with improved aerodynamics and more powerful engines.

The aircraft is powered by two Williams FJ44-4A engines and incorporates design refinements intended to boost performance and efficiency. The cabin is configured for up to eight passengers in a typical corporate setup and offers a relatively spacious, stand-up interior with a flat floor and large windows. Avionics have been upgraded from earlier Citation jets, with options that include advanced flight decks, integrated weather radar, satellite communications, and optional heads-up display. The CJ4 is positioned to perform intercity missions with versatility for varied missions and operators.

Performance characteristics include a cruise speed around Mach 0.74 to 0.78 and a practical range suitable for many mid-length trips, along with the ability to operate from a variety of airports, including some with shorter runways. Variants include the baseline CJ4 and later updates such as the CJ4 Gen2, which introduced improvements to avionics, cabin comfort, and efficiency. Production and updates have continued through the 2010s and into the 2020s, with widespread use among corporate flight departments and charter operators.

CJ4 should not be confused with API CJ-4, the diesel engine oil specification used for heavy-duty diesel engines.
