Bélfüggészt

Bélfüggészt is a Hungarian term that translates to "intestinal suspension" or "bowel suspension." It refers to a surgical procedure where the intestines are attached to the abdominal wall. This technique has been employed for various reasons throughout medical history, primarily to address conditions involving intestinal prolapse or to create ostomies.

Historically, Bélfüggészt was sometimes performed to manage cases where a portion of the intestine had protruded through an opening in the abdominal wall, a condition known as a hernia. By suturing the bowel to the peritoneum or the abdominal musculature, surgeons aimed to prevent further displacement and facilitate healing.
