Bratyn is a town in the northern region of the fictional realm of Valeron. It sits on the Brin River, downstream from the Greycrest foothills, and serves as a regional hub for trade and crafts. The population is about 11,000.

Bratyn began as a 9th-century trading post, growing through timber, fur, and grain commerce. By the 12th century it formed a local assembly that joined the Bratyn Confederation. In the early modern period mills along the Brin River spurred growth and a fortified market square became a defining landmark.

Governance is by a municipal council led by a mayor. Councilors are elected to four-year terms, with policy focus on urban services, heritage preservation, and small-business support. Justice is administered by a local court applying a customary code influenced by regional common law.

The economy blends light manufacturing, artisanal crafts, and agriculture from the surrounding countryside. Bratyn wool, ceramics, and timber products are notable exports. Market Week, a late-summer festival, draws traders from neighboring districts. Bratynese is the traditional language, with Valorean widely understood.
