Boukengers
Boukengers are a collective term used in contemporary folklore to describe a class of hybrid humanoid creatures that purportedly inhabit the highland regions of West Africa. According to oral tradition, Boukengers are said to possess the upper body traits of humans while retaining the lower body and tail of large cats, resembling a man‑lizard or lycanthropoid figure. Reports of encounters with Boukengers have been documented across several ethnic groups, particularly the Senufo and the Gola, where the creatures are portrayed as both formidable hunters and symbolic guardians of the forest.
