Blodtrycksbedömning, also known as blood pressure measurement, is a medical procedure used to assess the force exerted by blood against the walls of the arteries. It is a critical indicator of cardiovascular health and is often used to diagnose and monitor conditions such as hypertension and hypotension. Blood pressure is typically measured using a sphygmomanometer, an instrument that inflates a cuff around the upper arm to restrict blood flow and then gradually releases the pressure while listening to the blood flow through a stethoscope.

The measurement is recorded in millimeters of mercury (mmHg) and consists of two values: systolic pressure, which is the pressure when the heart beats and pushes blood into the arteries, and diastolic pressure, which is the pressure when the heart rests between beats. A normal blood pressure reading is generally considered to be below 120/80 mmHg. Elevated readings may indicate hypertension, while readings below 90/60 mmHg may indicate hypotension.
