Bitmapkuvien, also known as raster graphics, are digital images composed of a grid of individual colored dots called pixels. Each pixel has a specific location and color value, and together they form the complete image. The resolution of a bitmap image is determined by the number of pixels it contains, often measured in dots per inch (DPI) or pixels per inch (PPI). Higher resolutions mean more pixels and therefore greater detail, but also larger file sizes. Common file formats for bitmap images include JPEG, PNG, GIF, and BMP. These formats differ in how they compress image data, affecting file size and image quality. JPEGs are widely used for photographs due to their efficient lossy compression, which discards some data to reduce file size. PNGs offer lossless compression, preserving all image data and making them suitable for graphics with sharp lines and transparent backgrounds. GIFs are known for supporting animation and a limited color palette, making them ideal for simple web graphics. Bitmap images are created and edited using graphics software such as Adobe Photoshop, GIMP, or Paint.
