BeticRifian
BeticRifian is a term used to describe people who trace their ancestry to both the Iberian Peninsula (specifically Andalusia, often referred to as Betica) and the Rif region of North Africa. This historical and cultural intersection stems from centuries of migration, trade, and settlement between these two geographic areas. The historical presence of Muslim populations in Andalusia, many of whom were of Berber origin from the Rif, and their subsequent expulsion or forced conversion, led to a complex legacy. Many of these Andalusi Muslims, known as Moriscos, later migrated back to North Africa, including the Rif, contributing to the cultural and genetic makeup of the region.
