In healthcare and social sciences, pre-post (beforeafter) designs compare outcomes before and after a treatment or intervention, helping assess effectiveness. In environmental and project management contexts, it can document restoration efforts or progress over time. In software and data visualization, beforeafter concepts may communicate changes in metrics or code quality.

Limitations include the potential for bias due to differences in lighting, angle, or image quality, as well as misinterpretation of causality in before-after studies where confounding factors are not controlled.
