Beautifly's primary method of attack involves using its wings to create gusts of wind and to scatter the pollen or nectar it collects. This pollen can be used to disorient opponents or to induce sleep. Its wings are also capable of producing a dazzling light, which it uses to distract or stun. Despite its fragile appearance, Beautifly is surprisingly agile and can fly at high speeds. It has a keen sense of smell, which it uses to locate the sweetest nectar.

In battle, Beautifly is often utilized for its Special Attack and Speed stats. It learns a variety of special moves, including Bug, Flying, and even some Fairy-type attacks in later generations. Its abilities, such as Swarm and Run Away, reflect its nature as a small, often evasive Pokémon. Swarm boosts the power of Bug-type moves when Beautifly's HP is low, while Run Away allows it to escape from wild Pokémon battles more easily. Beautifly is commonly found in forests and areas with abundant flowering plants.
