Azoras

Azoras is a fictional archipelago in the eastern ocean of the continent of Elaria, created for use in fantasy literature and role-playing games. It comprises twelve main islands and a multitude of smaller islets, with diverse ecosystems and a trade-oriented society. The capital is Solis on Azor Prime.

Azor Prime, the largest island, features a volcanic highland chain known as the Azure Spine, with fertile lowlands along the coast. Other islands range from mangrove-fringed shores to temperate highlands. The climate is tropical monsoon with a pronounced dry season.

Historical records describe early seafaring communities establishing trading posts around coral reefs. In the medieval period, island states formed a loose federation, later adopting a constitutional framework that centralized defense and currency while preserving regional autonomy.

Azoras operates as a constitutional federation with a bicameral legislature and an appointed executive. Each island has a local council, while the federal government handles foreign affairs, defense, and monetary policy. The economy relies on fishing, spice cultivation, shipbuilding, and tourism.

The population is ethnically diverse, with multiple languages and blended religious practices. Education and health care are publicly funded. Cultural life centers on harvest and sea-related festivals, with cuisine emphasizing seafood, coconut, citrus, and spices.

Protected areas include coral reefs and cloud-forest reserves. The Azure Sea hosts research stations and ecotourism sites, while traditional crafts such as weaving and boatbuilding remain important to regional identity.
