Artifactory

Artifactory is a universal artifact repository manager developed by JFrog. It provides a central hub for storing, versioning, and distributing binary artifacts and their metadata, enabling reproducible builds and controlled release workflows across the software development lifecycle.

Artifactory supports a broad range of package formats, including Maven, Gradle, Ivy, SBT, Docker, npm, NuGet, PyPI, RubyGems, Helm, Conan, and CocoaPods, among others. It offers local repositories for artifacts produced by builds, remote repositories that proxy external registries, and virtual repositories that aggregate multiple repositories behind a single URL. This structure allows teams to cache dependencies, control access, and simplify artifact promotion through different stages of development and release.

Key features include access control and security, metadata and search, REST APIs and CLI tooling, build-info capture, and integration with popular CI/CD tools. Artifactory can be integrated with continuous integration servers (for example Jenkins, TeamCity, Bamboo), source control workflows, and issue trackers, and supports artifact promotion and retention policies. It also provides replication between sites and high-availability configurations for enterprise deployments.

Deployment options include on-premises installations and cloud-based services. Artifactory supports scalable architectures, including high availability clusters and containerized deployments on Kubernetes. Editions range from a free OSS version to commercial Pro and Enterprise editions with additional features such as advanced security, replication, and governance capabilities.
