Armatuurlaud

Armatuurlaud is a Dutch term referring to a mounting board or support panel used to attach and organize light fixtures and related electrical components within an interior installation. The board provides a planar surface with fixing points, cable channels, and cutouts for connectors, allowing luminaires to be mounted securely, aligned, and integrated with walls or ceilings. It is used in both new constructions and retrofit projects, particularly in modular or concealed lighting systems.

Materials and construction: Armatuurlaads are typically made from wood-based boards (multiplex or plywood), medium-density fibreboard (MDF), or metal panels, sometimes with fire-retardant coatings. They may feature pre-drilled mounting holes, cable grooves, knockouts for conduits, and finished edges. The choice of material depends on load, fire resistance, acoustic needs, and the installation environment.

Installation and use: The board is installed as part of the ceiling or wall assembly or as a free-standing module. Luminaires are mounted to or through the board, with wiring routed through channels or conduit. The board helps distribute load, protect wiring, and contribute to a neat interior appearance. In commercial settings, armatuurlaads are often designed to accommodate modular luminaires and allow easy maintenance or replacement.

Standards and safety: Installations must comply with local electrical codes and fire-safety requirements. Fire-rated boards may be specified in areas with strict fire-resistance demands.
