Applikationsmönster, also known as design patterns, are typical solutions to common problems in software design. They are templates that can be applied to real-world problems, providing a solution that can be reused across different situations. These patterns are not specific to a particular programming language, but rather represent a best practice that can be implemented in any language.

The concept of applikationsmönster was popularized by the book "Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software" by Erich Gamma, Richard Helm, Ralph Johnson, and John Vlissides, often referred to as the "Gang of Four" (GoF). The book cataloged 23 classic software design patterns, which are broadly categorized into three groups: creational, structural, and behavioral.

Creational patterns deal with object creation mechanisms, trying to create objects in a manner suitable to the situation. Examples include Singleton, Factory Method, and Abstract Factory.

Structural patterns are concerned with how classes and objects are composed to form larger structures. They simplify the design by identifying a simple way to realize relationships between entities. Examples include Adapter, Composite, and Proxy.

Behavioral patterns are concerned with algorithms and the assignment of responsibilities between objects. They characterize communications patterns between objects. Examples include Observer, Strategy, and Command.

Applikationsmönster are not a silver bullet for all software design problems, but they provide a shared vocabulary and a set of proven solutions that can help developers create more robust, flexible, and maintainable software. By understanding and applying these patterns, developers can improve their design skills and create better software.
