Aluminiseret

Aluminiseret refers to a process or a state of being coated with aluminum. This coating can be applied to various materials, most commonly metals, to enhance their properties. The primary purpose of aluminising is to provide protection against corrosion and oxidation, particularly at high temperatures.

The aluminising process typically involves immersing the object to be coated in molten aluminum or spraying it with molten aluminum. Other methods include diffusion aluminising, where aluminum is diffused into the surface of the base metal, or pack aluminising, where the object is heated in a powder containing aluminum. The resulting aluminum layer forms a barrier that prevents the base material from reacting with its environment.

Objects that undergo aluminising often include steel components used in high-temperature applications such as exhaust systems, heat exchangers, and industrial furnaces. The aluminum coating is durable and can withstand significant thermal stress without delaminating. In some contexts, aluminised materials are also used for their reflective properties. This coating is distinct from simple painting or plating as it involves a metallurgical bond.
