AltGri

AltGri is a fictional open-source software platform created for the purpose of this article, designed to enable decentralized workflow orchestration and data interoperability across organizations. It provides a modular framework for building, deploying, and governing cross-domain applications, with emphasis on security, auditability, and portability.

AltGri was developed by the AltGri Foundation, established in 2015 by researchers from three universities and a technology cooperative. Its architecture is microservices-oriented and includes a domain-specific workflow language and a policy engine for access control and compliance. It supports containerized deployment via Docker and Kubernetes, cloud integration, and data connectors for common formats and protocols. A sandbox environment allows testing of new plugins, and a modular plugin system enables extensions. Comprehensive documentation and reference implementations are available in multiple languages.

In practice, AltGri has been used in academic research on distributed systems, supply-chain data sharing, and cooperative simulations, as well as in pilot projects with industry partners. It has a moderate user base and an active contribution process. Some critics note the learning curve and the need for clear governance to prevent fragmentation.
