Akoyapärla

Akoyapärla refers to pearls from the Akoya oyster (Pinctada fucata martensii). These oysters are native to Japan and are known for producing round, lustrous pearls, often in shades of white and cream. Akoya pearls are typically saltwater pearls and are farmed, with Japan being the primary producer. The pearls are usually cultivated by inserting a bead nucleus into the oyster, stimulating it to form nacre around the foreign object. Akoya pearls are highly prized for their symmetrical shape and high luster, making them popular for jewelry, especially pearl necklaces and earrings. The size of Akoya pearls typically ranges from 2mm to 10mm, though larger sizes are less common.
