Ajaspetsiine

Ajaspetsiine is a genus of spiders belonging to the family Gnaphosidae. This genus is primarily found in the mountainous regions of Central Asia, particularly in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. The species within this genus are characterized by their relatively small size, with most individuals measuring between 5 and 7 millimeters in body length.

Ajaspetsiine spiders are often identified by their unique eye arrangement, which features three pairs of eyes. The eyes are dispersed across the pattern of the spider's carapace, which is typically a combination of dark and light shades of grey or yellowish hues. These spiders primarily inhabit caves and stone crevices, where they feed on small insects and other arachnids.

Studies have shown that Ajaspetsiine spiders exhibit a unique mating behavior, where males engage in a specific courtship display to attract females. This display involves the male spider vibrating its abdomen and releasing pheromones to signal its presence.
