Aeldras is a fictional city-state and cultural center in the eastern Valaran highlands, along the Serin River. The name derives from the ancient Aeldran language, commonly interpreted as “bright dawn” or “place of learning.” Since its founding, Aeldras has been associated with scholarship, artisanal crafts, and diplomatic trade, qualities that continue to define its identity in fantasy literature and role-playing campaigns.

Geography and economy: The city sits on a broad river valley bounded by limestone hills. Its temperate climate supports orchards and markets. Aeldras functions as a regional trade hub, known for glassmaking, metalwork, and textile production, with the Serin Market drawing merchants from neighboring realms. The university and libraries also underpin the local economy through publishing and scholarly patronage.

History: Founded in the early centuries of Valaran history by settler guilds, Aeldras grew as a voluntary trade confederation and scholarly seat.
