Abheilungsstörungen, also known as impaired wound healing, refers to a delay or failure of a wound to heal in a timely and orderly manner. This can manifest as wounds that remain open for an extended period, fail to close completely, or heal with complications such as excessive scarring or infection. Many factors can contribute to abheilungsstörungen, broadly categorized into local and systemic issues. Local factors include poor wound bed preparation, such as the presence of necrotic tissue or foreign bodies, infection within the wound, inadequate blood supply to the area, and excessive moisture or dryness.
