ATPniveau
ATPniveau refers to the amount of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) present in a biological sample, typically expressed as intracellular ATP concentration or energy status. ATP is the cell’s primary energy currency, fueling processes from muscle contraction to biosynthesis. In mammalian cells, intracellular ATP concentrations are typically in the low millimolar range (roughly 1–10 mM), though values vary by tissue and metabolic state. The cellular energy status is often described by the ATP/ADP ratio and, more broadly, by the energy charge, which integrates ATP, ADP, and AMP levels.
Measurement and interpretation: ATPniveau can be assessed with biochemical assays, most commonly luciferase-based luminescence assays that
Physiological and pathological relevance: A high ATPniveau indicates adequate energy supply relative to demand, supporting anabolic
Limitations: Tissue extraction can alter measurements; ATP levels vary between compartments and over time, so measurements
