AFC

AFC is an acronym that can refer to several organizations and technical terms, depending on the context. Four of the most common meanings are the Asian Football Confederation, the American Football Conference, the Air Force Cross, and Automatic Frequency Control.

Asian Football Confederation: The AFC is the governing body of football in Asia and is one of FIFA’s six continental confederations. The AFL–NFL merger in 1970 created the two-conference structure, each containing 16 teams organized into eight divisions. The champions of the AFC compete in the AFC Championship Game, with the winner advancing to the Super Bowl to face the NFC champion.

Air Force Cross: The Air Force Cross is a British decoration established in 1919. It is awarded to officers (and historically some warrant and other ranks) for exemplary gallantry during flying when not in active operations against the enemy. It is one of several high-level decorations for aircrew; a bar denotes a subsequent award of the Cross.

Automatic Frequency Control: In radio engineering, Automatic Frequency Control refers to circuits that automatically correct frequency drift in receivers or transmitters to maintain proper tuning and signal reception. AFC helps stabilize operation in varying conditions and is used in a range of communications and navigation equipment.
