6F22 is the IEC size code for a common rectangular 9-volt battery format. In many markets the same cell family is marketed as the PP3 battery and is widely used in devices such as smoke detectors, portable radios, and guitar pedals.

A typical 6F22 battery contains six small cells connected in series to provide about 9 volts. The most common chemistries are alkaline and zinc-carbon; lithium and rechargeable variants are also available, though less common.

Performance depends on chemistry and load. The 9-volt format has relatively high internal impedance, so it is best suited to low- to moderate-drain devices or devices that operate intermittently. High-drain applications can shorten life quickly. Rechargeable 9-volt variants exist, usually based on nickel–metal hydride, but they are less common and require a compatible charger.

Manufacturing and standards: 6F22 is an IEC designation used by multiple manufacturers; in consumer packaging it is often labeled PP3 or simply 9V battery. These batteries are disposable in most markets, though rechargeable versions are available.
