3Rprincippet
The 3R-princippet, commonly referred to as the 3Rs, is a framework for humane and scientifically responsible use of animals in research and education. It aims to minimize animal use and suffering while maintaining scientific quality. The concept was introduced by W.M.S. Russell and R. L. Burch in 1959 in The Principles of Humane Experimental Technique and has since become embedded in international policy and ethical guidelines. In Denmark and many European contexts the term is used as 3R-princippet (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement).
