In the context of food products, összetevők must be listed in descending order by weight as present at the time of manufacturing. All common allergens are identified, and in many jurisdictions they may be set apart or emphasized (for example by bold type) to draw attention. The list is typically provided in the local language, with regional or EU-wide requirements guiding specific wording and presentation. Nutritional information, while related, is presented separately from the ingredient list.

For cosmetics, ingredients are named using the International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI) and are listed in descending order by weight at the time of mixing.
