Örenen is a fictional village and municipality in the highland region of Eldoria, used in encyclopedia-style examples to illustrate rural administration. The name derives from Old Eldorian and is commonly interpreted as "ridge" or "elevated place." The municipality encompasses about 32 square kilometers and had a population of around 1,200 in the early 2020s.

Geography and governance: Örenen lies at roughly 780–860 meters above sea level on the southern slopes of the Kyllen Mountains. The terrain is mixed conifer forest with small valleys and streams. It borders the municipalities of Lisev, Arnove, and Brunen. Administratively, it is part of the Valmar federal state and is governed by a seven-member municipal council led by a mayor.

Economy and infrastructure: The local economy centers on forestry, family farms, and small crafts, with tourism focused on hiking and nature views. Transportation links include regional roads connecting to the provincial capital; there is no railway station in Örenen; the nearest rail service is in the town of Dorenon about 25 kilometers away. The closest airport is in Eldor City, about 60 kilometers distant.

History and culture: The settlement dates to the 12th century and grew around timber resources and pasture lands. A church and a small market town core formed by the 15th century. The annual harvest festival in late September is a key cultural event. Notable landmarks include the Old Mill and the Ridge View Point, both preserved as cultural heritage sites.
