Återmatningskretsar, also known as feedback circuits, are fundamental components in electronics. They are characterized by the fact that a portion of the output signal is fed back and combined with the input signal. This feedback can be either positive, where the fed-back signal reinforces the input, or negative, where it opposes the input. The presence and nature of feedback significantly alter the behavior of an electronic circuit.

Negative feedback is widely used to stabilize circuits, reduce distortion, and control gain. By feeding back a fraction of the output signal that is out of phase with the input, the circuit becomes less sensitive to variations in its components or external conditions. This leads to more predictable and reliable operation, making it invaluable in amplifiers and control systems.

Positive feedback, on the other hand, tends to increase the gain of a circuit. If the fed-back signal is in phase with the input, it can lead to signal amplification. In its extreme form, positive feedback can cause a circuit to oscillate, generating a continuous output signal without an external input. This principle is utilized in oscillators and some types of signal generators.

The design and analysis of feedback circuits involve understanding concepts like loop gain, phase shift, and stability criteria. The application of feedback is diverse, spanning from simple audio amplifiers to complex industrial control systems and digital signal processing. The ability to manipulate circuit performance through feedback makes it a cornerstone of modern electronics.
