It is a method where funds are moved electronically from one bank account to another. This is typically initiated by the payer, who provides their bank details and the recipient's bank details, along with the amount to be transferred, to their financial institution. The bank then processes the transaction, deducting the money from the payer's account and crediting it to the recipient's account.

Átutalásos payments are widely used for various purposes, including paying bills, settling invoices between businesses, sending money to friends or family, and making online purchases. The process is generally secure and efficient, although processing times can vary depending on the banks involved and whether the transfer is domestic or international. For domestic transfers within Hungary, funds usually arrive on the same or the next business day. International transfers, often referred to as SEPA transfers within the European Union or SWIFT transfers for destinations outside the EU, may take longer.
